HPV / warts

HPV
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted virus in Greece.
Most sexually active women will find out that they have contracted HPV because they have developed warts in the genital area, or have received an abnormal cervical smear result (Pap test).

Warts
Warts can be easily treated with locally applied medication or heat.
If you are concerned that you have genital warts, we are able to give you a definite diagnosis and treatment.
Most treatments are performed within our clinic using a painless technique. Occasionally, we may recommend hospital treatment (as a day case) if the number or size of warts is extensive.
We will also discuss how you can reduce the chance of reoccurance, advise you if your partner requires screening, and talk to you about the pros and cons of having the HPV vaccine.

Abnormal smear result
This may require further management, including repeat smear tests, a colposcopy examination, or further HPV testing to determine the particular type of virus.
We will also discuss further treatment with you.
